cJANSEN® HS-20DS63 Double Log Splitter – 20/17 t splitting force, 60 cm & 6.5 PS KOHLER engine
The JANSEN® HS-20DS63 is an exceptionally efficient double log splitter because it utilizes both directions of movement of the hydraulic cylinder for splitting. During the forward stroke, a powerful 20 metric tons of splitting force is available, and during the return stroke, an additional 17 metric tons.
This eliminates the empty return stroke typical of conventional wood splitters. While other machines must first retract without performing any work after a splitting cycle, the HS-20DS63 can continue splitting immediately on the opposite side.
The result is a particularly smooth workflow for firewood processing. Power is provided by a high-quality KOHLER 4-stroke OHV gasoline engine with 6.5 PS / 4.8 kW.

Dual-action splitter – splits wood in both directions
The most important feature of the JANSEN® HS-20DS63 is its unique dual-action splitting principle.
The hydraulic cylinder operates productively in both directions. There are working areas on both sides, so wood can be split during both the forward and reverse strokes.
- Forward stroke: up to 20 metric tons of splitting force
- Reverse stroke: up to 17 metric tons of splitting force
After the first splitting cycle, there is no need to wait for the cylinder to retract without performing any work. Instead, the next piece of wood is split immediately on the opposite side.
This design ensures a very continuous workflow, especially when processing larger quantities of firewood.
20/17 metric tons of actually measured splitting force
The splitting force of our wood splitters is measured directly at the splitting wedge. The specified 20 metric tons on the forward stroke and 17 metric tons on the return stroke thus refer to the splitting force actually applied to the tool.
This provides high force reserves on both sides of the double splitter for handling various log sizes.
Only about 7 seconds per cylinder stroke
The powerful hydraulic system enables rapid movement. The cylinder requires only about 7 seconds to complete one full stroke.
Combined with the dual-sided splitting principle, this results in a particularly efficient process: load the wood, split it, and immediately perform the next splitting operation on the opposite side.
The hydraulic system operates at a flow rate of approximately 38.6 liters per minute and a hydraulic pressure of 240 bar.
Maximum splitting length of approximately 60 cm
The JANSEN® HS-20DS63 processes pieces of wood up to approximately 60 cm in length.
This means the double wood splitter is designed for typical firewood lengths and offers sufficient space for a wide variety of wood pieces during firewood processing.
Horizontal design with a comfortable working height
The HS-20DS63 is designed as a horizontal log splitter. The log support is positioned at a height of approx. 65 cm.
This positions the wood at a comfortable working height. At the same time, the horizontal design enables the characteristic dual-split operation on both sides of the hydraulic cylinder.
6.5 PS KOHLER gasoline engine
Power is provided by a high-quality KOHLER 4-stroke OHV gasoline engine with 6.5 PS or 4.8 kW.
The engine is started using a reliable recoil starter, making the log splitter independent of a power supply.
The fuel tank holds approximately 3.6 liters of regular gasoline. Fuel consumption is approximately 1.0 to 1.2 liters per hour.
KOHLER – Proven Engine Technology

KOHLER has a long tradition in engine manufacturing and is one of the best-known manufacturers of small engines for garden, landscaping, and work machines.
The 4-stroke OHV gasoline engine used in the JANSEN® HS-20DS63, with its 6.5 PS, provides the power required for the hydraulic system of the dual log splitter.
Splitting wedge and splitting cross included
The JANSEN® HS-20DS63 comes standard with a pre-installed splitting wedge. It is approximately 20 cm long and 15 cm high.
Additionally, a splitting cross is included in the scope of delivery. It is simply slid over the existing splitting wedge and expands the possibilities for firewood processing.
Mobile on the property
The HS-20DS63 features a towing drawbar with a hitch as well as 10-inch tires. This allows the machine, which weighs approximately 180 kg, to be easily moved to another work site on suitable terrain.
The maximum towing speed is 25 km/h.
Important: The log splitter is not approved for road use and must not be towed behind a passenger car on public roads in Germany.
For transport on public roads, the machine can, for example, be loaded onto a trailer using suitable ramps and secured accordingly.
