The JANSEN® HS-12L53 is a compact, horizontal-style gasoline-powered log splitter with 12 metric tons of measured splitting force and a maximum splitting length of 50 cm. The hydraulic system is powered by a robust 6.5 PS KOHLER 4-stroke OHV gasoline engine.
The splitting force on our wood splitters is measured directly at the splitting wedge. The specified 12 metric tons therefore corresponds to the value actually measured there.
A distinctive feature of the HS-12L53 is its operating principle: The splitting wedge and splitting cross are permanently mounted, and the wood is pressed against them by the hydraulic cylinder. With a total width of only approx. 84 cm, the machine remains compact despite its robust construction.

12 metric tons measured splitting force
The JANSEN® HS-12L53 achieves a splitting force of 12 metric tons. The measurement is taken directly at the splitting wedge and thus reflects the actual splitting force applied there.
The maximum hydraulic pressure is 240 bar. In combination with the fixed splitting wedge, the machine is designed to process firewood up to 50 cm in length.
Fixed splitting wedge – the wood is moved toward the wedge
The HS-12L53 employs a unique operating principle: The splitting wedge is fixed in place. Instead of moving the wedge through the wood, the hydraulic cylinder presses the wood against the fixed splitting wedge.
The included splitting cross is also used in the corresponding splitting area. If a piece of wood becomes jammed against the splitting wedge or splitting cross during operation, it can be pushed further toward the splitting tool by the piece of wood following it.
This principle supports a continuous workflow during firewood processing.
6.5 PS KOHLER Gasoline Engine
The JANSEN® HS-12L53 is delivered with a 6.5 PS KOHLER 4-stroke OHV gasoline engine. Regular gasoline is used as fuel.
The engine is started using a recoil starter. Thanks to its own gasoline engine, the log splitter can be used without needing a power connection.
15 cm splitting wedge & splitting cross
The HS-12L53 is equipped with a 15 cm long splitting wedge. Additionally, a 15 cm long splitting cross is included in the scope of delivery.
The splitting cross is slid over the existing splitting wedge, allowing you to switch between the two splitting tools.
Flexibly Controllable Hydraulics
The hydraulic system of the JANSEN® HS-12L53 allows the movement to be paused in various positions and then moved forward or backward as needed.
This means that, for example, when splitting shorter pieces of wood, the cylinder does not necessarily have to travel the entire working stroke after every splitting operation.
The cylinder cycle time is approximately 6 seconds per stroke.
Compact design with a width of only approx. 84 cm
With dimensions of approximately 184 x 84 x 78 cm (L x W x H), the HS-12L53 features a comparatively compact design. In particular, the total width of only approximately 84 cm makes it easy to transport on a suitable trailer.
The weight of the log splitter is approximately 80 kg without fluids.
Transport & Maneuvering
The JANSEN® HS-12L53 is equipped with a drawbar with a hitch and can therefore be moved and maneuvered at the job site. The maximum specified towing speed is 25 km/h.
Please note: The log splitter is not approved for road use and therefore must not be towed behind a passenger car on public roads.
For transport on public roads, the machine can, for example, be loaded onto a suitable trailer using appropriate ramps and secured accordingly.

Delivery & Assembly
The JANSEN® HS-12L53 is delivered well-protected and disassembled in a wooden crate. Please allow approximately 1 hour for final assembly.
A German user manual is included with the delivery. If you have any questions during assembly, we’re happy to assist you.
For the initial fill, you’ll also need:
